One thing I’ve noticed as I attend events around the Costa Blanca and in the UK is that more and more people are getting interested in spirituality in general and crystals in particular. There’s something very comforting about holding a piece of rock in your hand that’s part of the planet we live on. It makes you feel more connected to the world around you,
Science is divided on the efficacy of crystals, but those who work with them swear to their benefits. As an energy worker myself, I am convinced that crystals contain healing properties, and I have seen their effects in action. Even people who are ambivalent regarding the healing power of crystals have reported better sleep patterns and feeling calmer after carrying or wearing an amethyst or rose quartz crystal. The gentle energy they emit is relaxing to the point where people find it easier not to rise to someone else’s drama and they can go to bed with their mind clear of chaos, making for deep, restful sleep.

As I say many times, everything is energy, and crystals are no exception. Just hold a crystal you are drawn to in your hand and you will feel it heating up, out of all proportion to the ambient temperature. The fact that you are drawn to a particular crystal in the first place is evidence of energetic attraction.
When people ask for recommendations for healing crystals, I turn that around and ask them what they are drawn to. A few months ago, I did a reading for a lady who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She asked for a healing crystal, and I invited her to choose one from a large bowl of mixed crystals. She chose amethyst and said ‘Oh, that must be the colour of healing.’ I told her green was the healing colour, but she obviously needed calm in her life, because she’d chosen amethyst. She confided that she wasn’t sleeping well, although she was exhausted, because as soon as she lay down, her mind went into overdrive. And in her waking hours, she was understandably worried about the future.
I saw her again last week, and she looked so much healthier and happier, I didn’t recognise her until she reminded me about the amethyst. She followed my advice and connected with her crystal, setting the intention that it would work with her for calm, so she could relax and get the sleep she desperately needed to allow her body to heal. By holding the amethyst for a while before bed, then placing it under her pillow overnight, she was able to relax and fall asleep relatively quickly, so her treatment was more effective.

I don’t suggest that the amethyst cured her cancer – it just made life easier for her and allowed her to feel better. Some scientists suggest that crystals have a placebo effect, but they also agree that the placebo effect can help people to feel more positive. Also, people who seek alternative remedies are taking back control of their situation, and they don’t feel so helpless, and that makes them feel happier. Happy people heal quicker.
All else aside, crystals are beautiful to look at, and we all love to look on beauty. It makes us feel positive and happy, and we see everything in a better light and are more accepting of setbacks when we are in a positive frame of mind.
Crystals also help with meditation, because holding a crystal gives you a focus, and that helps to clear your mind of clutter, and allows the meditation to do its job and reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure and control pain, among other things. These benefits are validated by scientific studies, even if crystal therapy isn’t, so maybe there is a good case for using crystals as part of your self care programme.
For me and many of my clients, crystals play an important part in our spiritual lives – it’s up to you to decide whether they work for you. Why not get to know crystals better and see if their gentle healing energy can help you feel happier, healthier and more positive about your life? Love and blessings.
