Most people have heard of guardian angels, whether they believe in them or not, but did you know that Parking Angels are a thing? No, neither did I until a few years ago. I was going to a popular mind, body spirit fair in Plymouth, and I’d been told parking close was nigh on impossible. Then one of my spiritual mentors, the fabulous Pam Goodall, said, with a perfectly straight face,
Just ask the Parking Angels to find you a spot.
I was a bit taken aback, but I thought let’s give it a go, even if all that happens is I tell her the Parking Angels don’t exist, or at least they weren’t on duty for me. I duly asked them to secure a place for me, but when I arrived at the venue, there wasn’t a single space to be had. Glenys was with we, and she said maybe we should drive around the car park again, because it’s the first time we’ve used the Parking Angels so maybe they needed a bit more notice. It had just started to rain, so I went along with it.
Lo and behold, someone pulled out of a spot, and we quickly took advantage. Not only did we have the only parking spot at the venue, it was also the nearest we could possibly get to it without using a disabled space, so we didn’t even get wet! Just in case it was a fluke, we stood under the shelter of the porch to see what happened after we parked, and while lots of cars came in, nothing left, so they all went off to either park further away or try again later.

We saw Pam inside, and told her of our success, and she wasn’t in the least surprised. In fact, she told us that since calling on the Parking Angels she had never had a problem with parking, even in the busiest of places, and those with limited parking. After that, neither did we. It didn’t matter if we asked when we left home, or just before we arrived at our destination, we always had not just a parking space, but usually one of the best ones.
Over the years, other people have first laughed at me as I asked the Parking Angels to do their stuff and then marvelled as they delivered, and subsequently become converts themselves. I think the best example so far was arriving for a funeral at a town centre church with limited parking recently. We needed two spaces, one for our car and one for my son, who was following, so I did the usual request. We pulled into a space which someone obligingly vacated as we entered the car park, but there was nothing else. As my son drove around the one way system to go in search of a space somewhere else, another car left and he was also able to park. We stood outside the church for a good 10 minutes after that, and nobody else managed to park.
Another time, I was driving Glenys’s camper to a pop-up market, and giving a lift to a friend who was temporarily without transport. It was notoriously difficult to park close to the venue with my small Peugeot, let alone Glenys’s Volkswagen T5, so it was more in desperation than realistic expectation that I sent out the customary request. To my delight, and the astonishment of my passengers, not only did I have a parking space right by the venue, it was the largest, deepest space available, as it was situated on a curve in the road.

My friend now enlists the help of the Parking Angels on a regular basis, and so does her husband. He was very sceptical, until he saw it in action for himself, and so was my upstairs neighbour’s husband. However, the other day, he thanked me for introducing his wife to the Parking Angels the previous week when she was buying some crystals from me at a local pop-up market. When a down-to-earth Scotsman can be converted, you know for sure that the Parking Angels are absolutely a thing!
Who are these miracle workers then, and how does it all happen? I have no idea – I only know it works for me, and for pretty much everyone I know. Maybe it’s our own guardian angels who do it for us, or perhaps there’s a separate host of angels who spend their days waiting to be asked to manifest parking spaces. They are certainly an elite, efficient source of help when we need it.
Or maybe it’s our own faith that all will work out for us if we believe it will that does the trick. Under the Law of Attraction, we get back the same energy we put out, so if we expect to be able to park, we will be able to, whereas if we’re convinced there won’t be a spot for us, it becomes a minor but annoying self-fulfilling prophecy. If we ask for something, and trust in the process without overthinking things, we’ll get it, so maybe that’s how we should approach everything we do, the big stuff and the little details.
In a positive frame of mind, ask for what you want, expect to get it, and remember to thank the Universe for delivering. When you are grateful for what you have – even just a parking space – you naturally attract more blessings into your life. The energy of positivity and gratitude is a powerful thing indeed; in fact, it’s just as powerful as the Parking Angels!
