One of my favourite crystals, and the one most people seem to recognise immediately, is rose quartz. Often called the Stone of Love and Peace, it’s connected to the heart chakra and the circulatory system, and associated with Archangel Chamuel, the Angel of Unconditional Love and Peace.
Calling on Chamuel when you feel overwhelmed or angry, or when you want help in your relationships while holding rose quartz in your left hand – the receiving hand for crystal energy – can help bring inner peace and calm into your life when you are living with conflict. Some years ago, during the difficult months of my husband’s final illness, when mood swings were making life difficult, I asked for angelic help when I was at my lowest ebb. I wore rose quartz because I liked it a lot and also I needed its calming energy.

Archangel Chamuel came to me in a vision and told me not to feed the drama. I made a vow never to lose my temper again, no matter the provocation. That was over five years ago, and I still haven’t given in to anger. It hasn’t been easy, and it doesn’t mean I’m a pushover. I still stand my ground when I need to, but I manage it without rising to the bait of others or being incendiary myself.
Carrying or wearing rose quartz will help keep anger at bay in yourself and others. It has a gentle, calming energy that soothes the soul, bringing inner peace. It can also help you sleep better, if you keep a piece under your pillow or on your bedside table. Rose quartz encourages kindness and compassion, and the thing I love most about it is that it helps you be kind to yourself!

Too often, when things go wrong, we tend to blame ourselves, thinking we could have done better, or shouldn’t have said that. The truth is, when things go wrong it’s rarely down to one person, so it’s unfair to take the blame for everything, especially when others are involved, because we can’t be responsible for their words and actions, only our own.
The serene energy of rose quartz helps us see things more clearly and calmly and accept that we can’t always get it right. When we can take that on board, we are able to go easy on ourselves when things go wrong. As our self esteem grows and we learn to love ourselves just as we are, we emit the confidence and gentle energy that draws other like-minded people into our circle, so rose quartz can help us build healthy relationships, whether romantic or platonic.

Rose quartz can help with the grieving process after bereavement or break up as it gently soothes stress and encourages forgiveness. Everyone feels calmer around rose quartz, so if your relationship is going through a difficult phase, keep a few pieces around the house, particularly in the bedroom to encourage peace and tranquility so that you each sleep soundly. Everything seems better after a good night’s rest!
Rose quartz is a harmonising stone that works physically and emotionally on your mind, body and spirit and spreads its energy to those close to you. It’s a beautiful stone to have as a decoration in your home or to wear as jewellery. If you’re just starting on your crystal healing journey, rose quartz is a great stone to start with. It also complements other stones such as amethyst and clear quartz.
It doesn’t matter how large or small the stone is, or whether you buy a rough stone, tumbled stone or sculpted shape such as an angel, sphere or egg, the energy is just as gentle – and just as powerful. If you’re looking to buy rose quartz, it’s likely that the stone you need will choose you, rather than the other way around. Be open to the energies and let your intuition guide you to the best rose quartz piece for your needs. Love and blessings.
